On November 8th, Sequence Presents brought Chicago something we don’t get nearly enough of: a truly unpretentious, intimate techno night that blended underground music, art, and community into one cozy fever dream. Techno, Tattoos & Tacos at The Jungle didn’t feel like a typical event, it felt like walking into a friend’s house party, where everyone just happened to have elite taste in techno and a shared obsession with the scene.
A Venue That Felt Alive
The Jungle lived up to its name. Warm lighting, pockets of glowing plants, and enough cozy corners to sit and breathe between sets made the space feel magical. No giant LED walls, no overproduction; just the essentials: dim ambience, shadows moving with the kick drum, and a room full of people who were there for the music.
It was the kind of environment where you could actually talk to people, catch a breath, watch a tattoo session, and then wander back into a perfectly dialed-in techno set.
The Music: Warehouse Heart, Underground Soul
One of the standouts of the night was Dela, who delivered a set that felt like stepping straight into a proper warehouse; hypnotic, gritty, pulsing, and incredibly intentional. That deep-driving techno that hits you in your chest and makes the whole room move in unison.
I also have to shout out DJ 3L1XR, who brings that dark, driving energy the event needed early on. You could feel the passion behind every track selection; the kind of set that sets the tone for the entire night.
Across the lineup — 3L1XR, Dela, Enzo, Kala, Mr. Bobby, Val Cappellari, Vela-Fi — it was clear that Sequence curated DJs who genuinely care about the culture, not just the crowd.
Tacos, Tattoos & Good People
In between sets, people hovered around the vendors, and honestly… the vibes were immaculate:
- Tacos by Flor — genuinely so good. Like unexpectedly delicious for a rave pop-up, the kind of tacos that hit exactly right after dancing.
- Tattoos by Clavo — high-quality work happening right in the middle of a techno event. Watching people walk out with fresh ink added this cool, ritualistic layer to the night.
- Vendors like Slutbug and Eco Death Collective added personality and made the space feel even more like a little underground marketplace.
Why This Night Stood Out
What made this event special wasn’t the lineup, or the vendors, or even the aesthetics, it was the people. Everyone seemed open, grounded, and passionate. No pretentiousness. No cliques. No ego.
Just music lovers, artists, dancers, and friends sharing the same space, letting the night unfold naturally.
Final Thoughts
Techno, Tattoos & Tacos was one of those small-but-mighty events that remind you why you fell in love with the Chicago scene in the first place. Intimate, authentic, and creatively curated; the kind of night where you walk out a little inspired, a little sweaty, and a lot more connected.
